Assumption sinkhole’s containment wall gets extended

Amy Wold of The Advocate writes on coast erosion in Louisiana – Washed away – Locations in Plaquemines Parish disappear from latest NOAA charts

Newspaper trivializes multiple sinkholes that opened up in Zachary, Louisiana. Golf course finds more holes than 18

“BREC Golf Director Jeff Marks, who took over the post earlier this month, said heavy rains in the first part of the year exacerbated the problem.
“Because we have had so much rain, the water pools up there,” he said.
Marks said he has seen similar problems at other courses.
“I have seen it at new courses, I have seen it at old courses,” Marks said. “With new courses, after time, the land kind of settles in.”

Crosstex has not given out a “daily” update since April 17. Why not?

  1. LA13 did show a whopper; and its vertical delimiters..are 10,000 microvolts. Most others helocorders for UofM for the sinkhole are 500 microvolts. Now I may not be a genius…but in basic math..the diff between 10,000 and 500 is scale is SIGNIFICANT. Guess they want to keep the graphic to small wiggles…more wiggle room maybe. Ha Ha I made a funny… sorry, its jokes are poor today.

  2. I can’t tell how impotent this is for now they are Geologist talking.

Gary Hecox, geologist working on the sinkhole for the State of Louisiana:

Expert: Material is flowing out from bottom of giant sinkhole — Volume of hole doubled since October — Now 25-acre settlement area

“The material is flowing out of the bottom (of the sinkhole) down the disturbed rock zone,” Hecox said.

    • It had a lot of action overnight but that big amount after dawn I presume to be work trucks and mat laying and all that re-arranging deck chairs on Titanic biz.

      • You would be correct in that assumption, fcf. I truly believe the stinkhole will make liars out of the presenters just in time for Wednesday night meeting. With all the rocking and rolling, then heavy trucks directly pressuring the beleagured disturbed rock zone, that serious changes are about to take place very soon, geologically speaking. Stay Tuned!

      • I hope that location is safe!
I read more than I posted about Texas collapsed salt dome in Houston Chronicle and that thing fell in like a monster movie!
