Crosstex NEVER Did a Worst-Case-Scenario of a Cavern Fail at Bayou Corne!

They did a pipeline fail scenario INSTEAD!

We were looking at the Aug. 15, 2012 letter Crosstex sent to DEQ with that Worst-Case-Scenario plan to see if they ever did any updates since then. They didn’t.

But look at what they call a “scenario”!

They put it as a pipeline fail and only deal with 8,400 GALLONS of butane getting out of a pipe.
That is ONLY 266.6 BARRELS!!!

WorstCaseV2

266.6 BARRELS IS NOT THE WORST CASE, CROSSTEX!

And, DEQ, you know it too!

Lots of Grumbling at Lake FUBAR Wed. – and a BIG THUMP Thurs. at 5:04 A.M.

WEDNESDAY GRMBLES

THURSDAY

It looks pretty calm at Lake FUBAR. The grumbles died down then a giant THUMP at 5:04 a.m.. Shows here at LA12

LA12_July31_2014

Oddly, it shows BIGGER on the surface of LA10 than at the bottom borehole.

On July 30, 2014, a dark magnetic filament erupted from the Sun surface!
“Scientists have calculated that this sun storm will alter Earth’s magnetic field on August 2nd. The storm cloud should create auroras in the northern sky.”

Crosstex had a merger and has a new name – since Jan. – EnLink Midstream is their new name.
Crosstex Energy, Devon Energy to be known as EnLink Midstream

“. . . The deal will combine Crosstex with the midstream assets of Devon, an independent oil and gas driller based in Oklahoma City. The new company will control more than 6,400 miles of pipeline, serving fields including the Barnett Shale and Eagle Ford, the companies said in October. “

We missed this July 8 item – ‘Explosive’ earthquakes may be the cause of mysterious Bayou Corne sinkhole

“. . . Now, researchers are suggesting that surges of gas-charged fluids may have generated an ‘explosive’ quake that could have played a role in the sinkhole’s formation.”

Not related to the salt dome collapse, but of interest for methane topic –
“We are sniffing methane” – vast methane plumes discovered escaping from the seafloor of Arctic ocean

” . . . Chief scientist Örjan Gustafsson from Stockholm University speculates in his latest blog entry that the leaking methane from the seafloor of the continental slope may have its origins in collapsing “methane hydrates,” clusters of methane trapped in frozen water due to high pressure and low temperature.”

Tues. -Seismic Activity Near Oxy 3 (and then helicorders konk out there) Explained + Big Mexico Quake Sloshes Lake FUBAR

A false alarm story –

This looks fishy. Lots of seismic activity shows on the SE corner of Lake FUBAR, where the new-new berm is sinking and then the helicorders at that area all konk out. At about 2 p.m. Monday and they are still off-line. Here is LA18 – it is still working and shows constant grumbles going on.

The trouble is near home base on this map –

Parish Blog Update: They went back to CODE 1 … maybe someone pulled a plug.

Oh, . . .  it says …

“- Replacing data cards on seismic monitoring equipment”.  So that is why everything is blank.

Newer Parish Blog Update – (oops!) confused back to CODE 2!

UPDATE – BIG MEXICO QUAKE

At 5:46 A.M. CST there was a giant 6.3 quake in Mexico. It is more near the Gulf than the Pacific but not on the coast. It severely sloshed Lake FUBAR for over half an hour as seen on this (working) helicorder at LA18. fluid

What does all of this big sloshing over self-made and external seismic events do to the damaged cavern walls?

TUESDAY NEWS

We updated the last post about the crater in Siberia because they found a third one(!).

The ANF map shows 2 big 5.6 quakes today that USGS isn’t showing. ONE IS IN THE GULF OF MEXICO! The other one is on Missouri and Arkansas border.

Large Seismic Ding at 1 A.M. Saturday & Weekend News

SATURDAY

I think the bigger jump on the monitors is on the SE corner of Lake FUBAR next to the incredible amount of butane.

LA21 shows the “Ding” at 1:10 a.m.  The parish blog says they are keeping the Code 2 status.

Oddity – 1 a.m. seems to be prime time for Lake FUBAR to turn into an underwater disco. Check out previous headlines here with “1 a.m. ” in the title!

8:30 p.m. Sat. eve –
6.0 quake out in the Atlantic – between Jamaica and Africa <  MAP.
It showed up as fluid movement at 8:45 p.m. at Lake FUBAR – seen on LA18 helicorder.

UPDATE

The 6.0 figure comes from USGS but RSOE says it was 6.6 plus there were 2 big ones next to it. All late Sat. at 10:28 except the 5.7 was at 8:28.  If they all went off at 28 min. after the hour … were they man-made/oil drilling?

Reports – 6.6, 5.7, 5.6

Scientists discover why the Appalachian mountain chain bends

If you took a bird’s-eye view of the Appalachian mountain chain, you could pretty much trace a 1,500-mile straight line from Newfoundland to Alabama, notes Nature World News.

Except, that is, for a little squiggle in New York and Pennsylvania. So what on earth could make a mountain chain bend like that? Geologists think they’ve figured out the answer, and it’s not so much “on earth” as “in earth”—namely, an underground volcanic rock about 60 miles by 280 miles in dimension. . . .

Vermilion Parish – Instead of DEQ fines, plant sees tax breaks after explosion

Multi-Chem, a Halliburton-owned business that blends chemicals for oilfield production, including fracking, paid no state environmental fines when its New Iberia plant exploded in 2011.

Instead, the company received an expedited environmental permit to build a new plant in Vermilion Parish without public notice or a public hearing and was granted $1.8 million in state property tax exemptions over a 10-year period to build the new plant. . . .

. . . .  DEQ scheduled a public hearing for 6 p.m. Aug. 14 at the North Vermilion High School cafeteria, 11609 La. Highway 699, Maurice.

SUNDAY

A jump on the helicorders at 12:06 a.m. and at 6:10 a.m. – seen on LA12.

Wal-Mart Preps for New Madrid Fault Big One

Wal-Mart Preparing For A Major Earthquake On The New Madrid Fault?

By Michael Snyder
Buried in a Wall Street Journal article from about a week ago was a startling piece of information. According to a Wal-Mart executive, Wal-Mart “participated in an exercise to prepare for an earthquake on the New Madrid fault line” earlier this summer. And officials at the U.S. Geological Survey have just released a report which indicates that they believe that the New Madrid fault zone has the “potential for larger and more powerful quakes than previously thought“.

ANOTHER crater found in Siberia! Plus #3 Crater < UPDATED

Woah!

Strange Sounds –

Mystery Deepens Around Giant Siberian Sinkhole As Second Crater Is Discovered

Reindeer herders in Russia’s Far North have discovered yet another mysterious giant hole about 30 kilometers away from a similar one found days earlier.

Located in the permafrost of the subarctic Siberian region of Yamal, which means “end of the earth” in the local Nenets language, both craters appear to have been formed in recent years and have icy lakes at their bases. . .
