Important St. Helena Parish Water Hearing is Wed.

REMINDER –

If you have not already, please contact the Louisiana Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries about the use of water from the Amite River for fracking.

Under the Greenhouse Gas emissions agenda item we have sent around to Green Army again our points to help people compose letters to the editor. And there was a good letter in the BR Advocate this week supporting the Clean Power Plan written by Ron Curry, Administrator, USEPA Region 6. Also the Louisiana Public Service Commission has decided to go ahead with the Energy Efficiency programs which had been agreed to by all parties, then were suspended for six days, now they will proceed.

Under the Fracking agenda item Louisiana Dept of Wildlife and Fisheries is proceeding to hold a public hearing on Oct 29 to consider a Scenic Rivers permit application to withdraw water from the Amite River for fracking. The info is pasted in here below for your reference. We would like to see some turnout at the Oct 29 hearing to show that we don’t like our scenic rivers being used to supply water that will go into fracking and then will come back out as toxic waste.

Here is the info – LDWF will hold public hearing on Oct 29, 2014 to consider Scenic River permit application #906 to withdraw water from the Amite River for hydraulic fracturing. The permit application is submitted by Comstock Resources to withdraw 12.6 million gallons from the Scenic Amite River.

St. Helena Parish Police Jury
17911 Highway 43 N
(Approximately 0.75 miles north of LA Hwy 10 along west shoulder of Hwy 43)
