    • N.O. is about an inch above sea level. Muddy/floody stories are in novels about the city. They have above ground graveyards there.

      • That’s about the mystery underground tunnel, which collapsed though. The low level and riverside is what made that tunnel so mysterious, because it should be full of water. But, they made it mostly into a casino parking. It was part of a canceled highway project. There is another one though. Hope Beryl doesn’t bother you. Stay safe!

      • I wonder if there’s old smuggler tunnel in N.O.
yeah, tropical storm headed to me. I ahve ‘open air’ living room, minus a large porch door so I will tie the fridge shut. 50 mph+ winds expected (in my living room). Downstairs is OK.

      • Oh crap! Stay downstairs – I hope it is sealed and rain free. There might be a smuggler tunnel in NOLA. I always wondered if they dumped rad waste or what they did with that tunnel but then they said it was a parking lot but still could smuggle through it if pumped dry. It sounds like it runs under Canal St. to Poydras. I always thought it went under the river. I need to look on a map.
