“Nearly six years after the catastrophic failure of a salt mine caused the Bayou Corne sinkhole, a company is planning two new massive mines in the same underground deposit in Assumption Parish.

The recently approved permit is the first for the Napoleonville Salt Dome since the Louisiana Office of Conservation halted new mining in the area and adopted safety regulations in reaction to the sinkhole disaster that attracted worldwide headlines, state officials said. . . . (more)

    • That sinkhole…it looks amazingly clean to me. Years ago a crop circle was found in the neighboring township to my sister’s in Ohio. I went to visit her and the crop circle. People/crop circle experts from all over the world cane there. After visiting and saw how the wheat was uniformly woven, among other things, I became a believer that these crop circles are made from something outside our little planet. Some of these supposed sinkholes look too symmetrical and clean sided to be random. Just my late night thought…

      • I thought the big holes were from permafrost melting in Siberia… releasing methane.
