    “Maximum sustained winds are near 85 mph (140 km/h) with higher
    gusts. Rapid strengthening is forecast during the next 24 to 36
    hours and Ida is expected to be an extremely dangerous major
    hurricane when it approaches the northern Gulf coast on Sunday.
    Weakening is expected after Ida makes landfall.”

    • “Edwards spent Saturday evening calling governors across the country and asking for reinforcements. Sixteen states responded and have sent a total of 900 people to assist in search and rescue operations. “

    • WDSU news reported the utility poles that blew down won’t be a future problem if the infrastructure bill passes this fall. They will use that money to put the lines underground.
