Dear DNR,

Fix those helicorders! They are ALL turned OFF since Nov. 4 and most are broken!

How can authorities guarantee the safety of Louisiana water, Bayou Corne neighbors and the national gas supply if you have NO monitors at this dangerous caved-in salt cavern next to huge butane storage tanks?

NEW MADRID FAULT blog item from 2013

A bunch of stuff from 2013<- includes BP and Texas Brine

A lot of misc. items on all subjects

We found this item on South American lithium and brine and wondered if Texas Brine had an interest in the lithium craze (auto batteries) going on now. We didn’t see Louisiana on the list. Or here. Not that they can’t keep a secret.

2 (old) Docs Show 3-D View of Lake FUBAR

Added to the Documents page today, these 2 papers have lots of info on where the gas bubbles are coming from. They say the old Hooker well pocket of gas is all spent.

  2. LSU – Seismic Noise Test: Bayou Corne (Oct. 2012)

DNR paper –

  • Sinkhole fill disturbed area limited to depth of approximately 400 ft., is contained within berm, and remains far south of Hwy 70 and Bayou Corne
  • Small amount of residual Big Hum hydrocarbons near the Hooker # 1, serial # 20913, appears to have been liberated and virtually gone in recent survey
  • No evidence of multiple hydrocarbon zones as possible supply to sinkhole and MRAA

We also found a comment-on-planned-project letter filed as part of the public record of Arlington Storage’s application to store natural gas in a salt cavern near Watkins Glen, N.Y. that is revealing.

This letter (at the end) notes the Bayou Corne disaster is still going on. They use the phrase the continuing salt cavern failure at Bayou Corne to describe it. So much for stability.

Dear DNR,

This is what you put out to the public as “contents” of the failing salt dome in Napoleonville, Louisiana on Aug. 13, 2012. From your Data Sampling web page.

You KNOW there is a LAW that you must reveal to the public pollutants and toxic materials stored in state sanctioned facilities.  NONE of the 53 caverns on the list show radioactive waste. You know that is untrue. Many companies are moving products around and replacing products with other products.

Are you sure you don’t want to amend this list?

SEE – Myriad of Caverns with Explosive LPG at Bayou Corne May be WORSE than Butane
When highly toxic “NORM” and/or “TENORM” was placed into the caverns where did the transport containers and vehicles wind up?  Were they tested for radioactivity? Were the drivers?

And Dr. Ratard (at DHH)

Are you SURE you don’t want to amend this declaration that “NORM” (rad waste) doesn’t pose ANY health risk?

You are saying that in a government document you are responsible for. That  assessment  may come under review by public advocates and/or criminal investigators.
