Global ResearchShock: Fracking Used to Inject Nuclear Waste Underground for Decades

“Unearthed articles from the 1960s detail how nuclear waste was buried beneath the Earth’s surface by Halliburton & Co. for decades as a means of disposing the by-products of post-World War II atomic energy production.”

“. . . . Alleged fracking links to the contamination of the public water supply and critical aquifers, as well as ties to earthquake upticks near drilling locations that are otherwise not prone to seismic activity have created uproar in the years since the 2005 Cheney loophole,” which allowed the industry to circumvent the Safe Drinking Water Act by exempting fracking fluids, thus fast tracking shale fracking as a source of cheap natural gas.”

Washington TimesAnalysis: La. environmental lobby gains prominent ally

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) – Environmentalists have always had a tough slog in Louisiana, where the oil and gas industry provides tens of thousands of jobs and chemical plants dot the landscape along the Mississippi River.

But the cause has picked up a high-profile sponsor in the last few years, retired Army Lt. Gen. Russel Honore, the military leader who won acclaim for restoring calm and order to New Orleans in the chaos after Hurricane Katrina nearly 10 years ago.

Texas Brine has responded to the Blue Ribbons’ report by digging in their heels claiming there are no changes at Lake FUBAR. And we’re a bunch of nervous Nellie’s for watching the helicorders. We’re just seeing “routine industrial activity(!).  Additionally they say they have set out new monitors (that we can’t find) around Oxy 3. Comment here if you can find the new helis.

” . . . Greg Miller, a geologist hired by Cotten’s firm as a consultant, said the permit application “totally ignores” that discharging wastewater into the sinkhole could contaminate a usable groundwater source that exists between the water’s surface and the Mississippi River Alluvial Aquifer. . .  “

The Bugle also says this: “a HUGE thank you to the GreenARMY for their representation and support in opposition to this illegal request. A big shout out to those who made the very long drive here from all parts of the state to be in Napoleonville to support us… Nara Crawley, Glo Conlin, Cheryl Perret, Darryl Malek-Wiley and Wilma Subra were not only being there for support, but stepped up to the podium to verbalize their opposition to this travesty.”
