On Texas Brine ‘Updates’ & Wed. News

A new “fact sheet” from Texas Brine – they are sticking to the swamp gas story.

The 3 places to find Texas Brine “updates”.  Not where you think they are.
Main update page.  Where they claim they inform the public but has the least information.
Then on the DNR‘s page “All Bayou Corne Updates“,  select “Daily Reports” > selcect “Texas Brine“.
A hidden extra page with some sample data (sometimes and with vague information) is found by going back  to the DNR “All Bayou Corne Updates” page and skipping the useless, never updated “Texas Brine Drilling Operations” page and instead selecting  “Plans and Reports” and you get “Texas Brine Operation Reports” where they often have 2 interesting items; a Daily Report and a letter to  DNR about how in-compliance they are. And those letters are signed by …. Veep, Bruce Martin!  Spinner_AL

8 p.m. CST –  There is approval for reconsideration of Senator Mills’ SB200.  It will be on the Senate floor again.
Thanks for everyone’s help. We can not give up.

Terrific seismic activity continued overnight and the crews are working in violation of the Code 3 order as evidenced by this LA12 chart. All the charts look like this. Not even bothering with a Droopy dog cartoon.  PuterMan sent this page of charts from May 5 showing dramatic happenings.

Important Vote on SB200 Wed. May 1st

Senate Bill (SB) 200 is the one to prohibit building salt domes unless strict rules are met.
We got this plea from friends at Save Lake Peigneur –

FRIENDS:

I have just this moment been notified that Senator Mills SB200 will be heard in the Senate Natural Resources Committee 9AM this Wednesday, May 1

We need your support to get this bill out of this committee. I realize this is the first of 4 steps but we have not made it out of Natural Resources several times. We get this bill passed this is a huge step toward protecting our drinking water and environment.

PLEASE join us & call me if you need transportation to the Capitol& pass on the information.

Many thanks,

Nara & the Save Lake Peigneur, Inc. Board of Directors.

If it is not possible for you to go to the Capitol to show support for this bill, please take a moment to write your legislator to let him know that you support the passage of SB200. There is a handy link on the LEAN 2013 Environmental Legislation Preview page (link below) to help you find your legislator. Hey, write all of them! You may write and tell them even if you’re not a Louisiana resident. Many other states use salt domes for petrochemical and hazardous waste storage. Many legislators look to other states’ laws when drafting their own legislation. In helping to support Louisiana citizens, you could be setting a precedent for environmental protection in your own backyard! About Lake Peigneur

Your note may be as simple as sending an email stating that you support the passage of bill SB200 and your signature/typed name, or you may elaborate as much as you like.

New DNR Inspection Report says Lake FUBAR is bubbling in the middle.

WAFB – Bills aimed at preventing sinkholes pass out of committee

[snip]  . . . . “Two bills introduced by state Rep. Karen St. Germain, D-Plaquemine, would address the operation of mines and caverns within a salt dome. One would require companies to update information, like the location of caverns within the salt dome, while the other would regulate the mines and wells in caverns in the salt dome.

St. Germain said those two measures need to be in place to prevent another Bayou Corne-type incident from happening.”

WAFB uses stock footage from the APPJ vids to illustrate the story instead of getting any worthwhile NEW footage from their own  (idle) helicopter.

Texas Brine crows, “There is nothing in the (3-D) interpretation that suggests there is another big event coming or a sudden release of oil and gas…”

It is so stable they are not giving anyone an ‘OK’ to move back home. We suggest Mark Cartwright, president of United Brine Services, a Texas Brine subsidiary, pull a camper into Bayou Corne and sleep there a few weeks. It’s safe!

The LIVE STATUS widget for OXY1 is back on the GOHSEP website, upper right side.
We have that on the sidebar.  If anything is wrong there – they just take the widget off the page!

Conn. Post La. lawmakers to discuss sinkhole in Feb.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) Louisiana lawmakers are planning to hold a joint meeting of the committees in mid-February about the large sinkhole in northern Assumption Parish.

State Sen. Rick Ward III, vice chairman of the Senate Natural Resources Committee, tells The Advocate (http://bit.ly/10T0CK8 ) the joint hearing, which he said has been discussed for months, would likely be held at the State Capitol.

The Louisiana DHH’s new Bayou Corne situation update has what they tested for but NO info on the results. Notice NO testing for radioactive elements. Don’t worry. They say nothing in Bayou Corne poses a health hazard.

Crosstex has a Jan. 20 update listing the status of their butane cavern about to be leaned on by next-door-neighbor-cavern.

-Well #1 – 2,897 barrels of propane
-Well #2 – 146,231 barrels of normal butane

By now they may be nearly done with their product migration from Well #1 to (too close by our estimate!) Well #2.
