    • … don’t forget, buildings and roads aren’t the only structures susceptible to subsidence, bridges are too, and two out of the three routes out of town require crossing over bridges that are both in the ‘danger zone’.

      Just in case you think the third route is free of problems, it isn’t, it runs right next to a gas station that also sits within the ‘danger zone’, a gas station with underground tanks that may possibly be in danger of leaking should the ground nearby subside.

      Add all this to the fact that authorities are planning not just for local subsidence of Hwy 70, but possibly for a total salt dome collapse. Then seriously, Bayou Corne, not a place I’d want to be.
