The have to drill a new hole to plumb the depth. So all this time they didn’t make sure they had a working hole?

The AdvocateTexas Brine to conduct depth test on cavern

By David J. Mitchell

Texas Brine Co. plans to conduct a key test Tuesday on the depth of its failed Napoleonville Dome salt cavern, the suspected cause of a large sinkhole in Assumption Parish, company officials said.

The test is expected to show how close the salt dome cavern is to being completely filled with rock, a point when scientists suspect the grumbling, growing swampland sinkhole may finally begin calming down. . . .

. . .  Drillers will send a tool called a sinker bar down the access well until it hits bottom, providing a measurement of the cavern’s depth, [ spokesman, Sonny] Cranch said. They also will conduct a sonar survey of the cavern’s remaining open interior . . . .

  1. “An environmental advocacy group has released analyses of state air and water sampling data collected at the site of the Texas Brine salt cavern sinkhole where radioactive oil drilling waste and other potentially toxic materials were stored in rural Assumption Parish, La.” Article Title: Environmental health risks detailed at Louisiana bayou sinkhole disaster site Source:http://www.southernstudies.org/2012/08/environmental-health-risks-detailed-at-louisiana-bayou-sinkhole-disaster-site.html?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=pulsenews

  2. “So all this time they didn’t know if they had a working hole?” From what I have read, that has been a part of the problem, Russian roulette with the salt domes. Drilling without first determining what was underground and if they would be on target. Now, there is indication that the bottom has risen by 60′.

    • these berms should have been constructed months ago and the ‘hole’ should be a permanent thing so they can constantly check.
They do half measures a day late every time!

Watch them try and put gag orders onto residents who ‘settle’ with buy outs!

  3. I think the Parish ought to put a halt to these people’s activities until someone can come that understands what the heck is going on. At least stop and think out what the plan is and a solid path forward, this shooting from the hip isn’t working out to well
    .

  4. Helicorders look ominous, the look of the waves looks like liquid faction. Good be reverberation from big quake in Papau NEw Guenia Region.
